Customer Project: Conn Fluglehorn: Play-condition overhaul

Issues:

-Stuck slides (all of them)
-lots and lots of dents
-suck bottom valve cap

This horn didn't have a whole lot wrong with it, but there were extensive dents in the bell tail.  Not surprising as it used to be a marching band instrument, owned by the Ohio University Band.  Basically I took it apart, got the parts unstuck, chem flushed it (maybe twice), took out all the dents, ported the bottom sprung piston valves and oiled and greased it up.

Replacement Mouth Pipe:

So this was a project for class, we got a trumpet, had to mouth pipe off and take a universal one, cut it to length, fit the mouthpiece reciever and upper outer main slide tube, solder, and buff to color:

Custom Trumpet Build:  YHR-2320

So my mouth pipe project above has now turned into a complete custom trumpet build.

What I'm doing:

-fixing the dents in the hand made, custom YHR-GH bell
-making my own custom mouthpipe.
-fixing all the dents in the knuckles of the valve casing.
-replacing the finger ring with a permanent one
-replacing the missing valves
-replacing the missing second valve slide
-switching the upper slide tubes on the first valve so I can add a thumb ring.
-add three piece braces to the main tuning slide area

annealed and ready for it's second and last draw:

I had to find valves and burnish them and lap them to make them work.

All done and it plays beautifully:
